TIPS:
Organizations often make mistakes when promoting their brand, good or service online, namely becoming mesmerized or overwhelmed by the technology or thinking what works on paper works in a virtual medium.
The technology, yes, it's advanced but don't lose sight of the simplicity. Keep the message simple, the delivery quick and the details pared down to the most delectable morsels because the audience doesn't have time to deal with you!
eNewsletters must be targeted, piquing interest with short statements compelling the audience to drill in for more.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
WHAT IS IT?
In simplest terms, SEO means to describe a process of improving the volume of traffic to a web site from search engines such as Google and it's use of keyword searches. The term SEO can also refer to "search engine optimizers," a term adopted by an industry of consultants (separate from web designers) who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients.
Search engine optimizers often offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a larger marketing campaign. Because effective SEO can require making changes to the source code of a site, it is often very helpful when incorporated into the initial development and design of a site, leading to the use of the term "Search Engine Friendly" to describe designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts that can be optimized easily and effectively.
HOW DO USE IT? DO I NEED IT?
Yes, but with caution and some vision before jumping into it. WIth thousands of new sites registering into Google each day, it's a heavily competitive market to come within the top 3 pages of the Keyword searches. When hiring SEO specialists, they will most likely offer you no guarantee results, many of them rip and severely change the design & code of the website in an effort achieve their goal. Even if you get close to the targeted goal of search results, it will most likely to change in a few weeks to months as the technology and rules for the rankings are constantly changing. All of which may quickly sap you of the precious funds saved for marketing your website.
We have found the a hybrid solution below to be the most steadiest and cost-effective solution to smart SEO:
1) Basic SEO with meta tags & descriptions:
Adding keywords and descriptions to your web-pages is certainly a good idea as Google and other search engines have traditionally relied on this to rank websites for search results. This can be done by manually adding them inside the source codes of the pages (encrypting) under the tags called "Metatags". In our websites this is streamlined in the CMS so that you can easily insert and modify the words without touching any of the code.
2) Pay-Per-Click Advertising (e.g.. Google's Adwords):
This is certainly the surest and quickest way to get your website exposed to the right target audience. Google itself receives your request of who to target, based on what keywords, and based on whatever budget you want to spend. You only pay for the actual visits (per click) your website received from the advertising. The ads themselves are the ones on the right-hand-column always visible on it's pages.
3) linkage to other sites in the same category/industry & eNewsletters
Believe it or not the people who rank websites are all volunteers. They have basically one concept, if the website has pages of content which is most relevant to the desired category/industry as well as links to other websites within the same category/industry, then it satisfies the requirement. Of course, the ones with the most relevant content and linkages will come first. Depending on your category/industry, linkages to institutional, government, incorporation, portal sites are great. If your suppliers or partners have websites, offer them that you'll link them to a page on your site and request that they do the same. It costs no money and it will help both your rankings.
eNewsletters are a great way to get branding and exposure to your website. Viral marketing in lieu of SPAM would be the way to approach it. Focus on the specific target group who has agreed to receive them (opted in), send them the eNewsletter and it will grow getting passed on to people they know.
